REDES SOCIAIS VIRTUAIS: O USO DO TWITTER PELAS UNIVERSIDADES PÚBLICAS

Abstract

As Redes Sociais Virtuais (RSV), apoiadas por computadores e suas conexões remotas, utilizam-se de diferentes recursos e promovem mudanças nas estruturas educativas. Neste diapasão, o presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar o uso do Twitterpelas instituições de ensino superior como suporte para suas comunicações com sua comunidade. Para elaboração do estudo, dividiu-se em duas etapas: revisão bibliográfica e pesquisa documental. A abordagem teórica incluiu os seguintes itens: avanços tecnológicos e suas alterações no âmbito educacional, as perspectivas inovadoras para a comunicação do ensino superior e a evolução das redes sociais virtuais como apoio ao ensino superior. Quanto à abordagem documental, foram utilizadas informações obtidas da página do Twitterdas Instituições de Ensino Superior selecionadas. Separaram-se, então, os posts para ajudar no entendimento da qualidade das conexões exercidas nas páginas das Universidades que empregam as RSV. A classificação do tipo de mensagem postada foi dividida em informacional e conversacional, categorizada em visibilidade, influência e engajamento e, posteriormente, subdivida-se em pesquisa, ensino e extensão. Com os resultados apresentados, foi possível concluir que as redes sociais virtuais têm sido empregadas de maneira restrita pelas Universidades públicas conforme apresentado no estudo. A interação que é possível ser realizada nestes ambientes deveria ser apresentado pelas Universidades como uma ferramenta de comunicação, principalmente pelas Universidades que apresentam pós-graduação stricto sensu.

The Virtual Social Networks (RSV) supported by their computers and remote connections are used for different resources and promote changes in educational structures. In this vein, the present study aimed to investigate the use of Twitter by higher education institutions as support for your communications with your community. To develop this study was divided into two stages: literature review and desk research. The theoretical approach included the following items: technological advances and changes in their educational prospects for innovative communication in higher education and development of virtual social networks as support for higher education. As for the documentary approach we used information obtained from the Twitter page of Institutions of Higher Education selected that, after they separated the posts to help in understanding the quality of the connections carried pages of universities that employ the RSV. The classification of the type of messages posted was divided into informational and conversational, then was categorized into visibility, influence and engagement, subsequently subdivided into research, teaching and extension. With the results we concluded that the virtual social networks have been used in a restricted way by public universities as presented in the study. The interaction that can be performed in these environments should be submitted by universities as a communication tool, it is possible to characterize the visibility, engagement and influence, especially by universities who have post-graduate studies.
