The productive modernization and restructuration process, characterized by the microeletronics automation and new organizational principles (production and labor), is changing the pattern of the typical industrial job, suggesting systematic transformationns on the employment structure. For a better understanding of the subject, his research paper analyzes the structure of the work force in the oil industry in the Grande ABC" area. The given data was obtained from the Secretary of Work, from the RAIS System (Social Information Annual Relation) with retrieved data from 1986 to 2002, and on a case study on three different companies from the oil industrial district of the "Grande ABC" area.As a result of this study, it is possible to identify the through development of this worker type, which leads us to discuss the changes on that individuals' profile. Talking about the ocupational categories, it is possible to identify a clear loss among the workers on the operational department, which suggests an intensification of the industrial estructuration process. Another important aspect is the transition from the work force concentration from the less instructed individuals to the more educated ones. The age issue reveals an older work force, which agrees with the relative tendencies of a long career, meaning job stability for those workers. The sex analyzes of the oil industry worker shows that the typical worker is a male, similar to the 80s decade pattern, and the oppotunity for the women usually migrates from the big to the small companies, which denuounces the downgrade of the women working. In regards to the companies, all of the shown evidence leads to conclude that the limited worker, whose typiacal job includes only mechanized work (typical Ford/Taylor production organization model), became less important for the management objectives, within the new era of the technological development. As the programeable automation development, the tendency to the work function to become a monitoring function arose, requiring better instruction, capacity, responsability and an abstractive capacity from the workers.A significant part of those oil industry workers however, followed a course out of the job world, in which they lost their benefits such as registered and regulated work, which isa benefit of the moder oil industry..RETORNO DO INVESTIMENTO EM TREINAMENTO: UMA ABORDAGEM DE MÚLTIPLOS CASOSRetorno do InvestimentoSistemas de AvaliaçãoTreinamentoThe productive modernization and restructuration processcharacterized by the microeletronics automation and new organizational principles (production and labor)is changing the pattern of the typical industrial jobsuggesting systematic transformationns on the employment structure.
